15 kilometers southwest of Mâcon, Leynes lies in the Arlois valley, right next to the famous Solutré rock. Opening onto the rolling hills of Saint-Vérand and Saint-Amour to the west, Leynes has the charm typical of rural Burgundy villages. The Bois de Fée overlooks the village, offering hikers a superb panorama of the valley, and on clear days a view of Mont Blanc. This privileged location provides the perfect backdrop for the vineyards for which the area is famous. The 15th-century Château de Leynes dominates the village, and its historic past dominates the streets of the village.
