A small village nestled at the foot of the Solutré rock, between the vineyards of the Saint-Véran appellation and those of the Beaujolais crus, Saint-Vérand (with a "d", unlike the appellation) is the gateway to Burgundy. Its medieval church, a magnificent 12th-century edifice, dominates the village and surrounding vineyards. The charming wash-house and traditional stone buildings make this hilltop village a timeless treasure. The Saint-Véran appellation, also known as "L'or blanc", is also produced in the six other surrounding communes, occupying both sides of the Solutré range.
