Of ancient origin, the village was a place of passage for transhumance, hence its name which probably derives fromovis (sheep). Today, the pretty village of Ovindoli is a choice stopover for skiers, just a stone's throw from the Ovindoli - Monte Magnola ski resort. The latter is located between 1,450 and 2,220 meters above sea level and offers an ideal setting for all kinds of winter sports. In the heart of the Sirente-Velino Regional Natural Park, the surroundings of the village can also be visited, along the paths, during pleasant summer hikes.
