Tempio Pausania is a town renowned for its cork and granite work and is dominated by the majestic Mount Limbara, which rises to 1,362 metres. Its cobbled streets, its grey granite churches and its friendly atmosphere are characteristic of the Gallura. From the 12th century onwards, palaces and churches grew up around the ancient centre of the piazza Gallura. The grey of the granite gives off a somewhat gloomy atmosphere in winter. Relatively untouristy, the city offers a face a thousand leagues from the cities of the coast The tourist office, in piazza Gallura, is open from 10am to 1pm and from 4pm to 7pm (closed Saturday afternoon and Sunday).
