Archipelago, island and town have the same name: La Maddalena. The island, of 20 km², occupies a central place in the archipelago. With 11,000 inhabitants, the town concentrates most of the population. It is a charming port which is very popular in the summer months. Restaurateurs and hoteliers take advantage of this to raise prices, so much so that the islanders have nicknamed the town "Little Paris". A panoramic road goes around the island offering superb views of the neighbouring islands (a dike bridge connects the island of Caprera). Don't miss some of the most beautiful beaches in Sardinia: notably Spalmatore and Cala Trinita, known for their transparent waters
