Keelung remained for a long time the strategic point of the north of the island. First stronghold to be won by the invaders from the sea, followed by the Spanish, the French and the Japanese. But with the development of tourism, thanks to the port from which boats leave for Mazu, the city is changing rapidly. Today, this city of 400,000 inhabitants is the second largest port in the country, and also remains the wettest city on the island, with 300 rainy days a year, earning it the nickname "City of Rain". Keelung is a getaway that is not lacking in interest, both for its night market (one of the most famous on the island), its historical sites, and the paths that wind through the hills.
