Travel Guide Nanya 南雅里

The Nanya site is located at kilometre 84 of Provincial Highway 2. These rock formations well deserve the nickname given to them by the natives, "strange rocks". When one knows how good it is to compare the rocks to animals, famous people or objects, one understands very quickly, that for Nanya, it is impossible to find a point of resemblance to describe the site. Exposed northeast, these sandy rocks have been eroded not only by the sun but also by the wind, the sea and the rain, whose movement can be seen in the many striations of the stone. The iron, which partly makes up the rock, oxidizes on contact with the air and gives the formation its characteristic ochre colour.
