Suao is a buffer town between the north and east of the island, and can both close a route through the Ilan district from the northeast coast and be the first step in the discovery of eastern Taiwan. The port of Suao reveals an important installation since in the north is the commercial port, Baifunao, while in the south Nanfunao welcomes the boats of the local fishermen. The rapid development of the port city has been to the detriment of the bay. Local authorities are trying to turn back the clock by developing attractive ecotourism. The company is far from daring, given the number of natural riches: the bay, of course, but also the cold springs and the mountains.
