Only one hour south of Taipei and in a green setting, Wulai has managed to preserve its aboriginal roots. The atayal tribe, strongly represented, ensures the survival of its customs by attracting visitors. Indeed, Wulai has some definite tourist assets: its location first, in the heart of a magnificent 17 km mountainous area, its hot springs then formed by the Tonghou and Nanshi rivers, and finally, its waterfall tumbling down a soft green mountain. The city is essentially pedestrian. Wulai is one of the must-see destinations if you stay a few days in Taipei, but don't have time in the rest of the country, where the presence of Aboriginal tribes is very strong.
