The road that runs along the coast from São Roque is beautiful all the way to Piedade. It is lined with cryptomerias, clumps of azaleas here and there, indolent cows behind their low walls, while a rather savage plant battle pits beech against pittosporum, which gains ground day by day, composing a new, lighter-colored landscape. Prainha marks a pleasant stopover in these bucolic surroundings. Most of the land is used for livestock and crops. Above these areas, the more mountainous landscape is covered with dense vegetation and scrub forests. The old manor houses can be admired here.
