It is both an important port which has given the region a real industrial development and a small seaside resort, mainly Maltese, rallied by the inhabitants of the northern cities attracted by the fine sandy beach of Pretty Bay, the only one of its kind in the bay of Marsaxlokk. It was here that the Bush-Gorbachev summit took place in 1989. Despite the proximity of the harbour complex facing it, the resort has retained a certain family charm, with its peaceful life, local crafts and the incredible clarity of the turquoise water. Bars, restaurants and sports grounds contribute to the multiplication of activities to be practised there
