Visible from afar on its promontory and surrounded by its fortresses, this magnificent town is home to fewer than 300 privileged inhabitants and features architecture unchanged since its reconstruction in 1693. Tourists can appreciate the calm and serenity that emanates from its old stones. The stone is bleached, the facades scraped. The result is superb, almost blinding on a sunny day. All around Mdina are vineyards, those of tas-santi (red) and girgentina (white).
