Surrounding the temple of Hal-Saflieni (or the Hypogeum), the village of Paola was founded in the 17th century on the initiative of the great master Antoine de Paule. To the visitor, Paola and Tarxien looks like a working suburb of Valletta. You realize that it is indeed here and in this type of city that the majority of the population lives.
