Vanosc is located in the Haut-Vivarais, on the border of the departments of the Loire and the Haute-Loire. The village was, in the 19th century, one of the cradles of the textile industry in the Ardèche, especially silk under the influence of Lyon. Currently remain on the territory of the town about twenty farming families who are mainly raising cows and goats for the sale of dairy products, and sheep for meat. A recent phenomenon, the increase in second homes brings a renewal to the local activity. Finally, part of the active population of the village works in the nearby town of Annonay.
