Located in the south-east of the department, on the border with the Ardèche, at an average altitude of 980 metres, Le Chambon-sur-Lignon is part of the Community of Municipalities of the Haut-Lignon and the Mézenc canton. As an internationally known "Station Verte de Vacances", it is a dynamic village. But Le Chambon-sur-Lignon is above all a place of history and memory unique in Europe. It is indeed the only village in France to have received, in the name of the whole Vivarais-Lignon plateau, the title of "Righteous Among the Nations" for having welcomed Jewish children during the occupation, but also maquisards and STO refractory.
