This peaceful, charming and very gourmet town in the foothills of the Vivarais is a good introduction to the Ardèche. Like its neighbor opposite, Tain-l'Hermitage, on the other side of the Rhône, its fortunes have been built around wine. On the hillsides of Tournon-sur-Rhône are the vineyards that produce the famous Saint-Joseph, a wine that has pride of place on the tables of the town's restaurants. Motorcyclists love to meet up here for a ride. The town's main square and quays are a pleasant place to stroll and watch the fishermen and rowers. The pedestrian street is full of nuggets worth discovering.
