Travel Guide Crozes-Hermitage

The hillsides of Crozes-Hermitage (or Ermitage) are well known to connoisseurs of this appellation d'origine contrôlée wine for its production in ten surrounding communes. The vineyards of this northern Rhone valley stretch along the sunny bank of the Rhone, flirting with the Saint-Joseph appellation of Tournon-sur-Rhône on the right bank. 1,650 hectares are planted on the western slopes in particular. Since the conquering Romans invaded during Antiquity, vineyards have continued to enrich this renowned terroir. Beautiful walks in the vicinity, between vineyards and views of the Rhone, are worth a detour
