What charm, what elegance! Grignan, a fortified village with its famous castle, is one of the most beautiful villages of the Drôme. The plain of Tricastin thus counts several villages wrapped around a castle built on a hillock, but Grignan stands out from the crowd! Discovering this village at the bend in the road is an enchantment. The castle of Grignan is known through Madame de Sévigné who came to spend her last days in this sumptuous residence, after having corresponded at length with her daughter, the Countess of Grignan. You have to walk through the quiet streets of the village, at the end of May-early June, to take advantage of the floral itinerary of a thousand roses. Then, in July, the lavenders bloom. At the bend in the alleyways, you will discover the square tower, the 16th century collegiate church where the marquise was buried, this curious 19th century wash house with columns, or charming bookshops, tea rooms with their patio, art galleries... Today, in memory of Madame de Sévigné's letters, Grignan is dedicated to writing, fine letters and correspondence, to which a Festival attracting countless personalities from the world of letters and the media is devoted. As for the castle, every summer it offers a quality theatrical creation that is a great success. It's best to book in advance. A moment of grace and emotion that would have charmed the marquise.
