Mende is an essentially commercial and administrative city, very lively in the summer by an influx of tourists. The visit is concentrated in the heart of the city, delimited by a circular boulevard built on the site of the old ramparts, which encloses the imposing mass of the cathedral and the Place Urbain V, with its statue of the pope, on the right the Hôtel Plagnes, and on the left the former episcopal palace.
