Sauveterre-Saint-Denis comes from salva terra, "saved" land. That is to say an area protected by the Church where the immunity of the individual is respected and where it was forbidden to pursue fugitives. The suspension bridge over the Garonne in the 19th century should not be missed. There is only room for one car on the wooden slats and you have to keep your distance of at least 30 m. At the bottom, far away, there is the Garonne and a breathtaking view. You also pass over the Canal Lateral à la Garonne. There is also a pretty church in pink brick in the Toulousian style: Sainte-Catherine which dates from the 19th century.
