In the 16th century, a young shepherd had a "good encounter": in a bush he discovered a statue of the Virgin. Miracles were attributed to the statue and pilgrimages continued. Pilgrims flocked especially in the month of May (the month of Mary) and loved the local delicacy "le tortillon" which was eaten with a glass of white wine, while the women went to mass. The tortillon is an invention of the Auricane family, which became Lapeyre and continues the tradition (in May only). Petit Futé advises you to discover the oldest local church: Sainte-Radegonde, built in the 11th century.
