A legend says that this village was born from the impossible love between a Celtic goddess, Belisma, and a Christian saint, Nicolas. Here is another one: in the church there is a statue representing Saint Roch. This statue was designed by a 15th century craftsman. It seems that the inhabitants of the town of Caudecoste tried to take it to protect themselves from the great plague that was raging in 1712. The statue, installed on a cart pulled by oxen, did not manage to cross the village border by some divine operation. The statue therefore remained in its original church...
