It is a pretty bastide founded in the 13th century. It still has old timber-framed houses, a beautiful square with wooden pillars, a parish church and a Jules Ferry style school. Some ramparts remain, but during a party on July 14, 1791, some drunken revelers will dismantle a large part of them and only a few elements remain. Do you know where the name Caudecoste comes from? The town was built on top of a slight promontory. The hill to get there was short, but steep, and it was hot when you got to the top, hence the name "calda costa", the hot hill!
