Legend has it that a cat terrorized the country. The lord promised his daughter in marriage to whoever would bring back the dead animal. A handsome and brave young man took up the challenge, married the girl and that's how the town was named after Catus. A water village, Catus is a medieval village where you will wander through the narrow streets of the time, discovering beautiful houses dating back to the 1500s. Rich of an abbey built at the end of the Xth century by a lord of Auvergne and to which one reaches by the Romanesque church Saint-Astier, Catus will also delight you by the presence of its beautiful Green Lake.
