It's a peninsula that stands out from one of the meanders of the River Lot. Here, men have been building the town of Luzech since the Middle Ages. Note the 12th-century keep, the only witness to the capture of the town by Richard the Lionheart in 1188; the 12th-century chapel of the Pénitents bleus, which became the headquarters of the Montagnards during the Revolution; the 16th-century chapel of Notre-Dame-de-l'Isle, revered by the gabarriers; and the narrow streets and shop signs. Luzech offers a number of interesting places to visit, including the Musée de la Planète des Moulins, the Musée Armand Viré and the Ichnospace, which features dinosaur tracks.
