Built on a hillside under the Causse de Sévérac, the village overlooks the river Tarn. Mostuejouls owes its name to the family of the same name which is considered to be one of the oldest in France. The village has narrow winding cobbled streets. A castle, parts of which date back to the 13th century, dominates the village. In the plain, by the river, you will notice the magnificent Romanesque church called Notre-Dame des Champs. Near the old school there is a superb Gallo-Roman stele. The village lives mainly from the vine, the production of cherries and, in summer, from tourism. Mostuejouls can be considered as the gateway to the Tarn gorges.
