SOUND INSTALLATION & LIVE MUSIC
Please bring a health pass
ODN was born out of the desire to show and share a variety of sound languages that are expressed in different forms (installations, documentaries, filed recording, sound siestas, experimental music...)
For its very first edition, the bird lands at En traits libres.
ON THE PROGRAM :
INFORMAL CHOIR by Félix Blume
Sound installation visible from October 8 to 30
Opening on October 8 from 5pm in the presence of the artist
"Informal Chorus" is an interactive sound installation composed of 10 wooden boxes, each containing the cry and the representation of a street vendor. The visitor can open and close each of the boxes, thus letting the sound it contains escape. The visitor decides, by this action, how many voices will compose this informal choir. The recordings were made in collaboration with the vendors of Moneda Street, in the historic centre of Mexico City. The illustrations, presented in postcard format, are inspired by a series of Parisian postcards from 1901. Each drawing is accompanied by the lyrics and score of the cry heard.
Félix Blume is an artist and sound engineer. He currently works and lives between Mexico, Brazil and France. He uses sound as a basic material in sound pieces, videos, actions and installations. His work is focused on listening, inviting us to a different perception of our environment. His process is often collaborative, working with communities, using public space as a context in which to explore and present his work. He is interested in myths and their contemporary interpretation, in human dialogues with natural and inhabited urban contexts, in what voices can say beyond words.
His sound pieces have been broadcast on radio stations around the world. He received the "Soundscape" award for his video piece "Curupira, creature of the woods" and the "Pierre Schaeffer" award for his work "Los Gritos de México" at the Phonurgia Nova Awards.
October 8 & 9
Around this work (and still at En traits libres), we have imagined a program with the diffusion of other sound creations. The invited artists will play live within the place. It is a new way to make it live but it is also an original opportunity for the public to meet and discover the following artists:
ALICE ELRAKUN / Friday, October 8 at 7:30 pm
Out of the forest for the occasion, La Rakun will play her compositions, written in English for more intimacy. The songs are about everything that's weighing on her heart, but don't worry, she won't spoil the mood of the party. Her melodious power pop rock sounds on piano or guitar will speak to your animal nature.
BOLOLIPSUM / Friday, October 8 at 9pm
Born in 1984, Bololipsum defines himself as a hunter-gatherer, he makes with what he finds, working on the economy of means. An aesthetic but pragmatic bias. It is in this state of mind that he founded his own label in 2015. His music will draw alternately from hip-hop, psychedelic music, alternating hypnotic layers and catchy beats. For ODN edition #1 Poussin, he will present us his EP "La mano rosa" in collaboration with Ganaëlle Maury made with prisoners of Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone.
WASHETT BADER / Saturday October 9th at 7pm
Washett Bader (aka Rachel Bader) is a computer and voice project. Touched by the harsh and quiet moods of certain cityscapes and underutilized spaces, it is an alternative hip hop that she perceives as country and damaged music. She integrates elements related to the imagination of a spacious and exotic tekos.
PERPAL / Saturday, October 9 at 8pm
Perpal is a functional music project for the body in a still, contemplative, paused or resting state. Initiated in 2012 by Lucien Dall'Aglio with the idea of ideally accompanying one's own sleep, it is interested in the therapeutic and psychosomatic scope of sounds and frequencies, in musical time while cultivating the vagueness and informality around these subjects. Ambient oriented, and more precisely towards Drone and continuous sounds, Perpal essentially uses samples modified by granular synthesis - which divides a sound into several tens or even thousands of particles to agitate them in a more or less random way - and the passage of these sounds in Reverbs and Delays. Lucien Dall'Aglio is also Sound Designer for Primate Audio, creator of audioguides (Réseau FRAME, Le Louvre, Musée Fabre) and at the initiative of musical projects such as Gerard Jugno 106 and Stolearm as well as the endangered music label Linge Records.
ZELDA / Saturday 9 October at 9pm
Singer-songwriter Zelda's universe is largely made up of love songs in a folk register. Most of her compositions are in English, but she also translates popular pop rock songs (Billie Eilish, AC/DC, Drake...) from English to French. ODN edition #1 Poussin is the occasion for her to release her first physical album : COVERS, which gathers all the covers she recorded in a limited edition of 50 handmade copies.
