Situated on the banks of the river Hérault, this village is the world capital of the sweet onion, called "cèbe" in Languedoc. It is this flagship product originating from the Middle East, developed here in the 14th century, which made the reputation of the town, it took its name at the end of the 15th century. Celebrated at the July gourmet fair and on the producers' stalls, the "totemic vegetable" is unanimously acclaimed for its taste and its energetic and anti-rheumatic properties. However, this age-old know-how is not the only wealth of the village, since it is centred around the church of Sainte-Marie, and preserves two gates of its ancient fortifications and serves as the setting for a magnificent castle classified as a "Historic Monument".
