The origins of Homps date back to Gallo-Roman times, and its name comes from "Ulmos", meaning elm. In the 12th century, the village was the seat of a commandery of the Hospitaller order, and was destroyed during the Crusade against the Albigensians and the Wars of Religion. With the construction of the Canal du Midi in the 17th century, Homps prospered. Its main attraction is the marina, where you can enjoy pleasant strolls, and the Jouarres lake, which borders the village. You can also see the remains of the castle of the Knights of Malta and an 11th-century Romanesque chapel, initially dedicated to Saint-Etienne and later to Saint-Michel.
