The small village of Cabrespine lies on the border between the Minervois and Cabardès regions, nestled in the Clamoux valley between plain and mountain. The castle, built in the 11th century, was later a royal garrison, but today only a few ruins remain, which are currently being studied. By contrast, the parish church, built in the 18th century, is well preserved. The interior houses a lapidary museum and a painting by Gamelin. This year's creation of a medieval-inspired garden in the adjoining green space adds to the charm of the setting. Visitors can discover ancient vegetables and medicinal plants used in the Middle Ages. Cabrespine benefits from an exceptional dynamism, supported by the municipality, which restores, develops and enhances the village, its heritage and its history. Water is omnipresent in Cabrespine: the old washhouse, drinking trough and fountain are reminders of the essential role played by water in digging the village's giant chasm, known far and wide. These highlights add to the charm of this typical Montagne Noire village. Cabrespine has been awarded the "Terre Saine, communes sans pesticides" label, which rewards and attests to the efforts made to protect the crops and vegetation of the village, which is also located in the Natura 2000 zone. This zone was set up to protect the many chiropterans (bats) that live in the valley. Visitors can find information on these little inhabitants along the way.
