Located in the Meauldre valley, in the heart of the Yvelines department, Beynes was in the 12th century the lordship of the house of Montfort, before passing under the control of Robert VII of Estouteville, then of Diane de Poitiers, following a gift from Henry II. The town has a beautiful architectural heritage: Saint-Martin church from the 11thcentury , the medieval castle... It also includes the impressive aqueduct of the Avre, built in the 19th century, allowing to supply the capital with drinking water. With a population of about 7,000 inhabitants - a figure that has remained stable for the past thirty years - the little town is halfway between Mantes-la-Jolie, to the north, and Rambouillet, to the south
