Nestled upstream of the ru des Vaux-de-Cernay, in the heart of the Yvelines valley, this village, with its narrow, flower-filled streets, is the oldest settlement in the Regional Nature Park. Inhabited since prehistoric times, Auffargis was later called Olferciacae in Carolingian times. The town was a dependency of the Vaux-de-Cernay abbey and became the seigneury of Les Angennes in the 16th century. Today, Auffargis strives to preserve a high-quality environment thanks to its park, dotted with ancient marshy woodlands and criss-crossed by numerous hiking trails that take in different landscapes, from intimate undergrowth to open agricultural plateau.
