Located in the heart of the French Vexin, a few kilometers from Normandy, Chaussy is a rural village with a little less than 600 inhabitants, one of the smallest numbers in the department, and which stretches at the bottom of a valley, below the domain of Villarceaux, its jewel. The site is watered by numerous springs and has a limestone soil that has largely provided flint for tools, then building stones. It has been inhabited at least since the Paleolithic period and was still very active in the Gallo-Roman era. The commune is at the crossroads of the roads leading to a number of castles and holiday resorts in the region.
