Inhabited from the Neolithic era, Orgeval derives its name from the Cro-Val Celtic word meaning «edge of the valley». The Territory testifies to an interesting Gallo-Roman past, although the first written traces of it date back to 1020. Built in parish in 1032, Orgeval belonged to the bishopric of Chartres. In the middle of the th century, a church was built around which a hamlet was formed (now hamlet of the To). Abbecourt Abbey was founded in 1180 by Gasce of Poissy and participates in the development of the territory. Unfortunately, in the th century, the Hundred Years War destroyed much of the city's buildings: the abbey, the church, the castles of Haut Orgeval and Tressancourt are devastated. Only a few elements still remain of this time, such as the ruins of the abbey and the steeple, the apse and the western interior of Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul Church. Orgeval underwent a period of enrichment and calm during the th and th centuries, and Orgeval underwent extensive construction work including the puncture of the Saint-Germain Road - Mantises (which corresponds to the current route of Forty-Sous). In the th century, the abbey was completely demolished to recover construction materials. Urbanization is developing. After World War II, the intensification of the cultivation of pears, apples and red fruits took part in the reputation and prosperity of the city, which today constitutes a valuable heritage to preserve.
