In the heart of the Brie region, between Châtres and Rozay-en-Brie, the village of Fontenay-Trésigny has a rich local history, from its valiant ancient origins to its industrious, builder past. From its role as a staging post between Meldi (Meaux) and Melodunum (Melun), the village became an important center in the eastern part of the royal domain, welcoming knights, kings and queens, and important people of the kingdom, such as Richelieu. The result is a rich heritage, a living testimony to the past, including the châteaux du Vivier and du Duc d'Épernon, as well as the church of Saint-Martin and the Morin fountain, the Porte d'en Bas and the Bains-Douches.
