In this village is the very original chapel of Santa Cristina, classified as a Historical Monument. Its twin apses and its nave dating from the 9th century are remarkable. They are decorated with a representation of Christ in majesty. The Romanesque chapel, built in the 9th century, was rebuilt in the 17th century. It owes its fame to Prosper Mérimée, then Inspector of Historic Monuments, who made a striking description in 1839. He spoke of a "rare, or perhaps unique form. ». The chapel of Valle-di-Campoloro has two apses because it was dedicated to two saints, Christine and Hippolyte, whose legends can be found on the frescoes.
