The village consists of three hamlets with granite houses, and the whole offers a view of the aiguilles de Bavella in the distance. Carbini is one of the rare examples in Corsica where three buildings existed at the same time: a campanile built by Maestru Maternatu and two churches Saint Jean-Baptiste and Saint-Cyr. Around 1365, a religious current appeared: the Giovannali. Close to the Cathars, they advocated a return to the sources of the Scriptures, as well as the values of purity, equality and justice. The Church condemned them as heretics; most of them were arrested and burned alive, and many rumours were spread about their doctrine.
