Around it, the original paving, of the Moleque pe type, can still be found. Mass in Latin is still celebrated on Sundays, according to the most traditional ritual of Catholicism
IGREJA DA APRESENTAÇÃO

Read moreLocated at the top of the Escadaria do Rosario, it is considered the most beautiful church on the island. The brotherhood of Nossa Senhora do Rosario e São Benedito dos homens pretos was founded in 1750 and it was slaves who built the church in just over 40 years between 1787 and 1830. This unusually long construction time for this type of church can be explained by the origin of the inhabitants of the neighbourhood at that time. They were poor whites and descendants of slaves.
