Church featuring a Rococo Baroque altar with more discreet gilding and a chapel decorated with azulejos.
Built in 1766, this church is one of the last architectural achievements of Manuel Francisco Lisboa, father of Aleijadinho. The beautiful ceiling studded with gold stars was painted by Manuel da Costa Ataide; the stone statues, already alive, are dressed in red and wreathed. The altar is by Aleijadinho. The style is rococo baroque, with more discreet gilding. Rarely in Minas Gerais, you can see azulejos in one of the chapels.
