Church featuring an example of Brazilian Baroque art, preserving a magnificent Portuguese organ dating from 1766, completely renovated.
Built between 1710 and 1732, it is one of the finest examples of Brazilian Baroque art, painted by Manuel Vitor de Jesus. It has a Portuguese organ from the 18th century. Its facade, full of gilding and woodwork, was one of Aleijadinho's last projects in 1810. It is possible to see that the hair of Jesus is natural. The magnificent Portuguese organ dating from 1766 has been completely renovated (concerts on Fridays at 8.30 pm). Superb view of the city and the Serra São José.
