IGREJA DA GRAÇA

In the residential neighborhood of Graça, the Church of Grace (Graça) is one of the very first Catholic places of worship built in Salvador, dating from the ^17th century. It contains the relics of the Indian Catarina Paraguaçu, converted to Christianity after her marriage to the Portuguese Diogo Alvares Correia, the Caramuru, and of Julia Fetal, a young woman from Bahia's good society, murdered with a golden bullet by her ex-fiancé! After the visit, a walk is recommended through this charming middle-class neighborhood.
