LA BESACE DU COMTOIS

Delicatessen

We like the friendly welcome and the judicious advice given by Cyril and Francis, the two creators of the shop. The products, well selected, reflect the regional know-how in terms of delicacies: cheeses and dairy products, craft beers, wines and honey from the Jura (among others) are honored. La Besace du Comtois also sells bread all year long and in the summer season, excellent homemade sandwiches are offered. The fame of this beautiful store, in front of the cathedral, is well justified!

Clémence Bernard, full of joie de vivre, has been devoting herself to chocolate since 2002, at a time when her grandmother's cakes made her salivate. She prefers small chocolate preparations, just like those of her grandmothers. Not very sweet, with almonds from Provence and above all not very strong. Origins Ivory Coast and Ghana. The almond paste and praline are also home-made. Orangettes, calissons, macaroons, caramels, puff pastries... The chocolate maker bites into life as she does into her chocolates, a real breath of optimism, like chocolate!

LA PALETTE DE BACCHUS

Caviste

At the foot of the fortifications, in a small street of the old town, you will surely fall on the small window of this unavoidable address of the lion city. François Bussière has been welcoming you in his palette of Bacchus, in all modesty for almost 30 years. In a quiet and simple atmosphere, the small and large vintages of France and Navarra are presented, which the wine merchant has carefully selected and whose passion he speaks with passion. A fine choice of small and large bottles of liqueurs, whiskies or spirits out of age or very old reserves are laid where there is room, on wooden shelves. This mess is not one for our man who knows grape varieties and crus at the fingertips. No one can better guide you to the wine best suited to your taste or to the spirits you don't know yet. A high-flying professional! The regulars, who become friends, make a stop at the shop, and take advantage of them to share their passion with the clients of passing. In short, an address should not be missed.

This old servant goes round and round and round for a long time to come. The only "organic" mill in the Jura (Ecocert label) and the last water mill in Franche-Comté, it never ceases to amaze young and old alike. The Magdelaine family has owned it for 7 generations. But it appears in deeds in 1362, entering into the share of the local lord Eudes de Vaudrey. Built on the Cuisance, a tributary of the Loue, flanked by its paddle wheel, its stone millstone grinds the grains tirelessly to bequeath wheat, rye, spelt and buckwheat flours. Type 45 and 55, they are suitable for classic pasta or bread dough, i.e. 500 tons per year. A great merit is due to its managers for having set up a circuit with free or guided visits to transmit this memory of the medieval heritage. In the end, a visit to the "regional products" shop will satisfy even the most demanding visitors. The doors are also open on the third Sunday in June each year. Not to be missed! Including for groups who can use a reception room for 60 people.

After 10 years as an amateur brewer, Julien Cêtre launched himself into the great bath of professional hops. But not the way a Montbéliard bull could do it. Tired of the "standardised" and in love with foam, the bovine engineering technician is not a little proud of producing "a really good home-made beer". It must be said that his farm receives pure water from the Ivrey spring that gushes from nearby Mont Poupet. It should be noted that his village, with a few dozen souls, rises out of a forest in the foothills of the first mountain plateau. Juju, as his friends call him, is now at the head of 3 permanent beers (a blonde American pale-ale type, a refreshing and fruity white, a redhead with caramelized notes). But the family is growing throughout the year with "ephemeral" beers called "Vachement Noël", "Vachement terrible", "Vachement noir", "Vachement fumée". And if you come in the summer, you will be entitled to the "Vachement Estiv'ale".

More than two years ago, Clémentina Martinez opened this charming boutique. It is ideally located along the national road which crosses the village and, with its storefront, it is difficult to miss it. The commune revives since there was no more butcher in Parcey for more than twenty years. All meats are prepared in the shop lab and come from the corner. Clémentina also proposes to sell cured and regional products: Comtois jams and macaroons, county, cheese, cancoillotte, gaude cakes, blueberry sausage, bull and even kangaroo. Our last stroke of heart? Brisselets in the county. A treat!

It is impossible to miss this cellar with exterior painted walls and decorations dedicated to the good drink. Fine grocery, gourmet baskets, wines but also beautiful collection of whiskies. Inside, take the time to chat with the wine cellar, and maybe even want to taste and enjoy its advice. A pleasant place, especially in the middle of summer, where it makes good strolling and discovering new wonders of wines.

The distillery has been working since 1859. The very dynamic company markets a large number of products: water-of-life, marc, liqueurs, creams, fruit-based aperitifs, absinthe… His excellence is recognized. The latest news? Rhubarb liqueur, Paris Dry Gin®, Pure Gold William's Liquor (a pear liquor with gold paillettes) and bottles with original shapes, a tractor for example. Free tasting on site. To eat with moderation of course!

The vine in Champlitte is a historic tradition dating from the th century… The Coteaux de Champlitte then became a reference in the region: in the th century, it was even the city's main resource. A terrible epidemic in the th century and the First World War were fatal to the chanitois vineyard. However, in the 1970 s, the CAG (Grand Vineyard Chanitois) was released from land to exploit 35 hectares of vines (200 times less than in the old days…) The area is close to the Castle and offers a possibility to park several campers. The reception staff will be happy to share the different wines.
