Located on the Alsace plain, facing the Vallée Noble, Rouffach opens up to you. Fortified from the 12th century onwards, the town boasts a Tour des Sorcières (Witches' Tower), a legacy of the Inquisition. Under the reign of Henry V, the town's inhabitants revolted and the bourgeoisie drove the king out of the town, which he had razed to the ground. Rouffach is also the birthplace of Marshal Joseph Lefebvre, husband of the famous Madame Sans-Gêne. The Château d'Isenbourg dominates the town. For food lovers, there's an organic market every Wednesday afternoon. The traditional Fête de la Sorcière takes place every July: witch trials have a long history here!
