Located in the Noble Valley, this wine village is nestled between the limestone hills of Bollenberg, Strangenberg and Zinnkoepflé (Grand Cru terroir) in an area considered to be one of the driest in France. On the ban de Westhalten, the upper limit of the vineyard culminates at 460 meters. Its name comes from West Haulda, which can be translated as West vineyard. This name can be found in the charter of Bishop Burkart of Basel in 1103, which recognized the possession of a vineyard in Westhalten by the convent of Saint Alban. To see: the church of Saint-Blaise in neoclassical style (1839) and its organ by Valentin Rinkenbach (1861).
