At the southern end, the village of Agios Georgios is an interesting stopover and above all the starting point to the islet of Despotiko. To get there, you can take the Captain Sargos' caque which makes frequent day trips between the port of Agios Georgios, Despotiko, the underwater cave of Epitafio and its incredible rock formations and, finally, the seal cave where you may see a Mediterranean seal. On the spot await you the remains of the ancient city of Presepinthos and a Doric temple where excavations are still going on today. The islet is also famous for its beaches and emerald water.
