Drive on! You can either continue along the coast to the unspoilt beach of Almiros, or head inland to Ano Perithia (four buses a day). This abandoned, listed hamlet was built on the slopes of Mount Pantokrator, the island's highest point (903 m). From up here, the serenity and panoramic views are, no doubt, exceptional! At the summit stands an ancient Angevin monastery, rebuilt in the 17th century. What a beautiful walk! On the way back to Pirghi through the mountains, you can also stop off at the stone villages of Petalia and Strinylas.
