Born in 1939 from the unification of the municipalities of Intra, Suna and Pallanza, this locality has made tourism, trade and industry its main economic drivers. Already inhabited in Roman times, the village of Pallanza enjoys an excellent location on the triangular promontory that ventures into the Borromean Gulf opposite the town of Stresa. Its architectural physiognomy includes buildings of medieval origin as well as Baroque palaces and 19th century villas surrounded by beautiful gardens. Pallanza is a popular (and often crowded in high season) tourist destination, famous above all for the fairy-tale gardens of Villa Taranto, as well as all the villas along Via Vittorio Veneto, which also have beautiful Italian-style gardens.
