Capital of the shoe industry in Italy, it is above all a city entirely centered on the Piazza Ducale, one of the most beautiful achievements of the Renaissance, designed by Leonardo da Vinci on the orders of Ludovico il Moro in 1492. The square has maintained its theatrical appearance. It embodies the Renaissance canons of the ideal city. Dominated by the Sforza castle, summer residence of the Milanese court, by Bramante's clock tower and by the cathedral, it is today the heart of the city, lined with café terraces. A few museums, stores and gourmet bistros complete the tourist offer of this unique little town
