The small town of Robecco is a jewel of precious architecture between the banks of the River Ticino and those of Naviglio Grande. Along the course of the river, the centre of the town shows a beautiful procession of medieval houses, all kinds of old buildings, more or less in good condition but filled with charm, as well as elegant Italian gardens decorated with statues. Along this route, we meet Villa Gaia (th century), with its large courtyard surrounded by an admirable portico and lounges decorated with frescos. Ludovico il Moro, duke of Milan, loved visiting there. Later, Villa Gromo di Ternengo and its elegant pier on Naviglio, and finally Villa Archinto, today unfortunately in a state of abandonment. Others are mentioned as Villa Dugnani, Villa Arrigoni, Villa Scotti… All these villas, today private residences, are unfortunately not open to the public, unless you have the chance to be invited for a reception. The surrounding landscape is characterized by fields dotted with beautiful cascine, those typical Lombardy farms now converted to restaurants or secondary residences.
