It's the crème de la crème of ski resorts. Zermatt, 1,600 m above sea level, is a pedestrian-only town, which is what makes it so famous. The resort combines typical, year-round ski slopes and splendid trails. Zermatt excels in the provision of a wide range of facilities, with access to some of the world's most beautiful peaks. The panoramas are exceptional. Just the sight of the mythical Matterhorn (4,478 m), the finger of God and an incredible peak, commands respect. Gourmets will recognize this conical mountain from the Toblerone chocolate bars. All around: 29 peaks over 4,000 m in altitude.
